Golf's place in Las Vegas hardly resembles its standing decades ago. In the 60s, a mere handful of clubs were open to the public, few of them worth a day trip away from Freemont Street. Today, more than 60 courses litter the Las Vegas area, many just 20 minutes from where the action is on the Strip.

Fifteen minutes south of Las Vegas, the suburb of Henderson has felt Vegas' rebirth the greatest, having been America's fastest growing city from 1999-2002. The suburb saw many communities sprout up in the late 90s, many with high-profile courses as the centerpiece. Henderson is also considered a good place to go if you're looking for deals. While many courses use their high profile designer or hotel to charge top dollar, others reward golfers willing to make the short drive off the strip by shaving a little off the top of their greens fee.

Opened in 2000, this Jay Morrish and David Druzisky design in Henderson has been host to two Tiger Jam events, Tiger's annual charity event which has made its way to Las Vegas over the past few years. No. 2 is one of the most scenic holes in the valley, which offers a stunning view and 125-foot drop from tee to green. The course is a par 72 and plays just over 7,000 yards from the tips while offering four sets of tees. A private course, DragonRidge does offer stay-and-play packages.
