Silverstone Golf Club
Silverstone
opened in the summer of 2001 and features the longest par-5 in the state
of Nevada at 653 yards from the back tees and still 530 from the forwards.
Three excellent nine hole courses make up Silverstone: the Mountain, Desert
and Valley nines. Silverstone is home to the Golf Digest School and has
also hosted a National Public Links Qualifying Tournament in its brief
history. There is also a bonus 28th hole, made in typical Vegas fashion,
to settle any unsettled bets after the first 27.
It's said that you have to be a casino "high roller" to get all
the customer service perks Las Vegas has to offer, but at Silverstone Golf
Club everyone is treated like a king. From the time you arrive in the valet
parking lot to the time your bags are loaded back into your vehicle, the
employees at Silverstone make you feel like someone special.
"It's something that I feel Las Vegas has lost sight of a little
bit," said Jim Stanfill, Silverstone's director of sales and marketing.
"We realize that customer service and business go hand in hand. It's
the old adage 'do to others as you would want them to do to you.'"
Along with the superb customer service, Silverstone serves up three excellent
nine-hole courses in its Mountain, Desert and Valley tracks. The rye-grass
fairways are well manicured and the bent-grass greens are fast.
The golf course opened in June 2001 and the 34,000-square-foot clubhouse
was completed in March 2002 in time for the club to host the Celebrity
Players Tour. Silverstone is also the site of the only Golf Digest School
in Nevada and has hosted the National Public Links Qualifying Tournament.
Silverstone's Mountain course features the longest par-5 in Nevada. Hole
No. 3 plays 653 yards from the back tees and 530 yards from the forward
tees. To add to the hole's difficulty is the amount of water that comes
into play about 150 yards from the green.
And in keeping with a Vegas theme, Silverstone has a 28th hole to decide
any wagers that were left unsettled after 18 holes. The money-deciding
hole is located just outside the clubhouse and is about 90 yards completely
over water.
