Tuscany Golf Course
Ted
Robinson's Tuscany Golf Course is one of Henderson's newest, having
opened in 2003. The entire club is set in a Tuscan theme, including the
tee sets aptly named Champagne, Merlot, Chardonnay and Port. The maturity
of the course is far beyond its 2003 open, having been mostly completed
in 2001 but delayed by environmental issues. Both No. 9 and 18 leave lasting
impressions for their respective sides, both long par 4s with penal spots
all over. The centerpiece of the club's off-course amenities is the 31,000
sq. ft. Old-World Tuscan Village.
Tuscany Golf Club is one of Henderson's newest, opening in 2003. 68 white
sand bunkers help make up this Ted Robinson design, who has designed over
170 courses world wide, is opening to rave reviews.
The entire Tuscany club is set in a Tuscan theme, with everything from
an extensive wine list in the clubhouse to aptly named tee markers (Champagne,
Merlot, Chardonnay, Port). The centerpiece of the club's off-course amenities
is the Old-World Tuscan Village, which makes up 31,000 square.
On the course, 68 bunkers and an abundance of compliment the 6,906-yard
course.
The finishing holes on each nine leave a lasting impression. The 9th,
a dogleg-left par 4, has water on the left side and two bunkers on the
right -- and that's just off the drive. The green is guarded by water
in the front, on the left and behind the green, as well as bunkers on
the right. The 18th is a monster: a 440-yard par 4 playing into an island
green with a waterfall off to the left. The rest of the course plays a
modest 6,904 yards from the championship tees.
The course is much more mature than the 2003 open date indicated. The
course was completed in 2001, but an environmental issue regarding their
access road took over a year to clear up.
