Wildhorse Golf Club
Before
the city of Henderson's boom, Wildhorse Golf Club opened to accolades in 1963, but was
redesigned by Robert Cupp and Hubert Green in the early 90s. The 18th
at Wildhorse remains one of southern Nevada's toughest finishing holes
and was left largely alone by the redesign team. A greenside lake and
surrounding bunkers make finishing on a good foot difficult. Tall, matured
trees and homes line the fairways, along with water that comes into play
on ten holes. Wildhorse has four sets of tees, the longest playing 7,041
yards and was once a stop on the PGA Tour.
Wildhorse Golf Club Wildhorse Golf Club, located in Henderson is one
of the Las Vegas area's classic courses. Opened originally in 1963, it
was redesigned by Robert Cupp and Hubert Green in the early 90s.
The 18th at Wildhorse is still considered one of Vegas' toughest holes,
despite a modest yardage of just 398. A greenside lake, along with surrounding
bunkers have ruined many good scores. The rest of the course, which winds
through Henderson housing is heavily shaded with many tall, mature trees.
Other challenges at Wildhorse are the strongly undulating greens and
the fact that water comes into play on 10 of the 18 holes.
Wildhorse plays 7,041 yards from the championship tees, but four sets
of tees play as short as 5,331 yards. A Nike Golf Learning Center is on
site at Wildhorse, so you can work out any last minute kinks before tacking
the dreaded 18th.
Once considered a local favorite, and a former stop on the PGA Tour,
the Wildhorse Golf Club still offers the beginning to intermediate player
an enjoyable round of golf at a comparably comfortable price.
